Long, pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia.Long, 63, an influential and controversial pastor died Sunday after battling an aggressive form of cancer. He had recently celebrated his 29th pastoral anniversary. At its height, New Birth had more than 25,000 members. It continued to have a global reach.Services will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 25 at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, 6400 Woodrow Rd. in Lithonia.Long will lie in-repose from 8 a.m. until the service begins.Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Jan. 24, at the church, according to Gregory B.
